France's Consul in the UK is confined to a wheelchair. As his office is in the top floor of the building, he needed to have an elevator. However, this could not be installed in the old Victorian house which serves as the French Consulate. The solution was to attach an elevator shaft to the backyard façade of the building. Without a glass enclosure, the elevator would become very dark inside. The architects wanted to have a design or pattern printed onto the glass, but needed to avoid disturbing the beautiful building façade with modern design. They quickly came up with the idea to have the image of the building façade itself printed onto the glass as a ghost image. Digital ceramic printed glass was the only solution for the job.
